Inštitut montessori in partnership with Montessori sports, from Netherlands is delighted to present Montessori Sports – fundamentals course with AMI certificate. This blended course (on line and in person) of 40 hours equips educators, parents, and school heads with the tools to integrate sports into Montessori environments. The course is covering all age groups, enhancing a child’s holistic growth for all four planes of development. 

Candidates from different professions are welcome to join the Montessori Sports Fundamentals course. This course is open to anyone who wants to know how to integrate sports with Montessori philosophy.

MEET THE TRAINER

Jip Bartels is the Co-Founder & Trainer of Montessori Sports. He is a  former professional player for the AFC Ajax youth academy and Dutch national youth teams. He brings over 20 years of experience as an athlete and youth coach to the programme. He holds a Bachelor for Organizational Science (Honors) and a  Master of Business Administration from the University of Amsterdam.

After developing and pioneering Montessori Sports Programmes in Australia, Jip has continued the global mission of Montessori Sports from his home in Amsterdam alongside colleagues Ruben Jongkind and Patrick Oudejans. 

Jip holds the AMI 6-12 Montessori Orientation (2018), AMI Administration (2023) and AMI Core Principles (2024) certificates. 

He is a social and disciplined man who believes that sports is a key to develop the human potential. The aim of Montessori Sports is to bring a student-centered approach to sports environments and to integrate sports into the core of child development.

Learning Outcomes

After you’ve completed this course you:
• Understand the connection between sports and Montessori education across all planes of development.
• Understand how sports will contribute to overall child development across all planes of development.
• Have acquired basic sports skills to present to the children.
• Are able to prepare Montessori sports environments.
• Are able to guide Montessori sports sessions.
• Are able to conduct observations on children during the sports sessions.

Assignments

You will receive the following assignments to complete each chapter:

• Questionnaires
• Practice own sports skills (send in videos)
• Observations (not every chapter)

You can upload all the assignments on the online course platform. A Montessori Sports team member will evaluate your assignments. The final assignment is a presentation of a sport activity to a group of children or an individual child. Besides this, you have to write a paper in which you explain how the Montessori theory applies to that activity.

Certificate Requirements

In order to obtain the Montessori Sports Fundamentals certificate all assignments will be checked and approved by the Montessori Sports team. After the final assignments are approved, the participant will receive the certificate by email.
